This red with intense fruit and spicy notes is from Cantina Poggi in the heart of Valpolicella, just a few kilometers from Verona. For this red he has ensured plenty of richness and complexity by fermenting the wine with a portion of partially dried 'Amarone' grapes - a technique known as 'ripasso'. From a top vintage, the wine has rich cherry flavours with chocolatey notes and an attractive 'bite'. It pairs beautifully with pasta with tomato and basil sauce, lasagna or spicy pork casserole.
